Kashka-Suu Waterfall

Kashka-Suu Waterfall (marked as Edelweiss on some maps) is located in the riverbed of the Kashka-Suu River, not far from the road connecting the valleys of two major rivers near Bishkek — Ala-Archa and Alamedin. The waterfall can be reached by car or via a short walk through scenic countryside from the main road. It is accessible for viewing literally from all sides: from both banks, from below, and from above. Nearby, in the Kashka-Suu valley, there are many spots suitable for picnics. Overall, a trip here is a great way to escape the heat of the city on a summer weekend. At an altitude of around two thousand meters, it is always noticeably cooler than in the valley, and the full-flowing river adds an extra sense of freshness.

Drive towards Ala-Archa Nature Park. About a couple of hundred meters before the park gates, turn left onto the road connecting the Ala-Archa valley with the Chunkurchak ski base and the villages of Tatyr and Arashan. You will encounter a dirt road of moderate quality, suitable for a regular city car but requiring caution and some experience driving on unpaved roads. Shortly after crossing the bridge over the Ala-Archa River, turn right. From here begins a steep and winding ascent that may be challenging for low-powered vehicles. The turnoff to the waterfall is located here. Turn right once again and continue for about two kilometers to the waterfall, or leave your car and walk this section on foot.

The drive up from the Ala-Archa valley can be somewhat tiring. We recommend using an SUV if possible, carrying a spare tire, and allowing some margin for safety. After rainfall, additional difficulties such as ruts and washouts may appear. Once road works on the route to Chunkurchak are completed, access from the Alamedin valley may become preferable (although the route is longer). Follow updates.

If you choose to walk the final section of the route, you are unlikely to regret it: the area is very picturesque and offers excellent opportunities to admire the beautiful green hills.
